The Henry County Fire Department operates under the following divisions: Office of the Chief, Assistant Chief, Operations, Training, and Prevention.

The Office of the Fire Chief provides Fire and EMS emergency services including directing the activities of both divisions, performing administrative work, and ensuring that the services provided be given in an effective and efficient manner. The Assistant Chief’ responsibilities include the provision of fire services and the insurance of emergency medical services. This includes managing and directing the activities of personnel and planning and organizing department operations.

The Deputy Chief of Operations responds to serious EMS calls and directs work as needed. The Deputy Chief is also responsible for managing, organizing, and planning activities and personnel involved in the emergency services function of the department. The Special Operations unit can also perform and provide the following services: Hazardous Material Response & Mitigation, Underwater Search and Recovery, Trench Rescue, High and Low Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue, and Special Event Protection.

The Deputy Chief of Prevention is responsible for organizing, designing, and implementing fire, safety, and accessibility codes and fire prevention programs for the citizens of Henry County and the employees of Henry County Fire Department. This position also serves as Fire Marshal and performs the duties of a commanding officer when necessary. The inspection sector and the Arson Unit operates under this division as well. The reviewed 904 building and site plans as well as inspecting 1580 new buildings and 3158 existing buildings in 2003. In 2004, 997 building and site plans were reviewed as well as inspecting 1553 new buildings and 2610 existing buildings. In 2003, the Arson Unit investigated 69 fires with the following outcomes, one fire death and made 8 arrests for the year. In 2004 the Unit investigated 96 fires with the following outcomes, three fire deaths and made 2 arrests for the year.
