Henry County Libraries are Cochran Public Library, Fortson Public Library, Locust Grove Public Library, and McDonough Public Library. The first Henry County Library was located in a small storefront on Covington Street furnished by Planters Warehouse. Due to the increase usage of the library’s material the Library Board decided to join joining forces with other counties, and in 1959 the Henry County Library affiliated with the Flint River Regional Library, headquartered in Griffin.

The contractual arrangement provided access to a much larger collection, technical advice and services, and bookmobile services to schools and communities throughout Henry County. Today, The Library system provides access to approximately 103,809 books. Apart from books, the libraries broad collection includes magazines, newspapers, 1,430 audio books, and 469 videos. Thirty Internet Terminals are located within the 4 branches of the Henry County Library system. Furthermore, the implementation of the Georgia PINES statewide computer catalog/circulation system, all Georgia residents enjoy access to all library materials. A Pen Pal Program is provided for students in 4th -6th grade and a The Teen Pen Pal Program for teens attending the 7th -12th grade. Interested patrons are assigned pen pal partners according to their matched interests.
